WHY ATTEND:
WE WANT YOU To Experience First Hand ; the Electrical Apprenticeship Training model  that guarantees all learning objectives required for green jobs are met while providing a long term career path for all participants!
  • The DJEATC has added a Grid-Tied Photovoltaic System at their second Denver training facility and will launch a new GREEN ENERGY Training Curriculum to train electricians as Wind Technicians, Photovoltaic System Installers, and as Energy Efficiency Auditors.
  • The DJEATC will be conducting tours of the facility for four days May 26-29, 2009 to allow all interested people to explore the facility, the training, and talk with members and leadership first hand.
  • An Entry Level Class is being conducted for MI CASA, an agency that assists women get the skills needed in non-traditional construction jobs during the tour days. View but do not interrupt class.
  • Tour the Portable Solar Trailer used for High School Career days, and at Vocational School outreach.
  • We believe that we have a proven track record and facility infrastructure in place to provide quality training, certifications, and skills for the training of the tens of thousands of skilled electricians that will be needed nationwide.
  • The DJEATC is one of 70 facilities in the country chosen to host these GREEN JOB OPEN HOUSE events because of the work we have done to train Electricians in Renewable Energy System Installations  and now Energy Efficiency has been added to the curriculum.
The Green Jobs Open House is moving forward AND it requires as many volunteers as possible. The Renewable Energy Committee has been tasked with this project by Dennis Whalen and we are doing our best to live up to the vote of confidence by the membership to place $1000 in the RE Committee fund to perform this kind of outreach for the good of the membership.

First off I want to thank the people who have committed so far to moving this project forward. The coordinators and their contact info will be listed in the Coordinator and Volunteer information box below

  • We have established Coordinators for the Green Jobs open house for some tasks but there are still opportunities to take on a coordinator position.
  • Keep in mind this is a Union delegate position and to that end, the IBEW 68 is ready to reimburse for that position per Dennis Whalen.
Please click on the yellow email to volunteer links above to contact the coordinator of the Committee you want to volunteer for.
Provide your contact information, time to volunteer when you email the coordinator

You have already received an emailed information about the GREEN JOBS open house (GJOH) directive from the International president Ed Hill.
Keep in mind that our Apprenticeship is one of 70 in the country asked to host the GHOC because of all the efforts we have made in Renewable Energy education. This is a national effort to secure Green Job Stimulus money for our apprenticeship training from the federal and state agencies responsible for dispersing the money to train for Green Jobs. IBEW position: why reinvent the wheel when we already have the infrastructure in place to administer, train, and turn out journeyman electricians in energy efficiency and Renewable Energy projects, and we have contractors already taking on the projects of the future.

I will list the Coordinators and request for help on the Project according to immediate need for action!
